Chiropractic: The Natural Approach to Back Pain

Depew chiropractic back pain treatmentChiropractic is based on the approach of helping your body to heal naturally through spinal adjustments and lifestyle changes that stimulate overall health. For Dr. Palmer, this means working to restore your body's normal functioning to avoid the need for drugs or surgical treatments. We find that most of our Depew patients are happy to find a natural answer for their health issues.

One advantage of chiropractic is that it helps people decrease or even eliminate the use of drugs. Prescription medications are frequently issued to individuals who have back pain. This is such a serious problem that the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) issued a press release stating that opioid (painkiller) dangers outweigh the benefits when administered for back pain.

Some of the most common narcotics, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, include hydrocodone (Vicodin), oxycodone (OxyContin and Percocet), morphine, and codeine. Statistics offered by the AAN mention the fact that roughly half of the patients taking these drugs for a period of three months are still dependent on them five years down the road. This can further complicate the problem of back pain and recovery, particularly if an narcotic dependency arises.

Compare that to chiropractic care which involves natural healing and the benefits are crystal clear. While a pill might be helpful at briefly reducing the symptoms of a health condition, it's not a solution to the problem. Drugs don't fix your damaged back; it will only cover up the pain.

Dr. Palmer will first examine you to get to the root of your back pain and then work with you to correct the problem -- without risky medications.

If you're ready for relief, naturally, give our Depew office a call at (716) 668-2225 to make an appointment with Dr. Palmer.
