We have helped many patients in Depew, NY over the years who were suffering from back pain, and some of those patients had been diagnosed with a bulging disc. Previous studies has shown that chiropractic adjustments can be an excellent way to relieve the pain of disc herniation in the lumbar spine and other studies have shown that it can relieve herniations in the cervical spine, as well.
Now a recently-published case study adds to our understanding of the benefits of chiropractic care for disc herniations. This study focuses on a 45-year-old woman who had a 2-year history of "chronic mild low back pain and right buttock pain." The individual described a worsening of the radicular pain down her right leg, and also reported intermittent prickling in her right foot. These are all indications of neurological complications, and are serious symptoms.
The person sought help from a chiropractic physician, who managed the patient with chiropractic adjustments and "advanced myofascial release therapy." The treatment consisted of 2 weeks of adjustments and an additional four weeks of exercise and rehabilitation.
The patient reported a "significant improvement in her low back pain and radiculopathy. In addition, she achieved some improvement in balance."
This article confirms what we see in our Depew, NY practice: chiropractic care is great for decreasing the discomfort of disc herniations without drugs or high-risk surgical treatment.
